MEMORIES AND FRIENDSHIPS FROM SPRING GARDENS

It’s spring time again, which means it’s time to hop on your John Deere tractor and till up that perfect garden you’ve been thinking about all winter. Our 1025R compact tractor paired with a Frontier Rotary Tiller makes this job quick and easy so you can move on to your other chores.
Spring and summer gardens can mean so much more than just fresh vegetables for your family. Memories can be made with the whole family as you decide what to plant and who will take on what tasks in the garden. Gardens can also teach children responsibly at a young age if you give them daily chores. You might even have the opportunity to share some of your crops with your friends and neighbors if you have extra.
I can remember as a little girl, going with my grandfather to check our blossoming garden in the afternoons after school. We grew so many tasty vegetables and fruits. My favorites were watermelon, cucumbers, and peas. I always thought my grandfather was just messing with me when he told me the plants like for you to talk to them. However, it is true- studies have shown vibration (such as music, or even the sound of your voice) can affect plant growth. Plus, the Myth Busters (in an undeniably not-so-scientific study), compared a silent greenhouse to one where they piped in a voice soundtrack, and found that plants in the latter grew more.
So, remember this spring as you get out your tractor and tiller, you’re not just making a garden… you’re tilling up the potential for learning opportunities, relationships, and so many memories.
