CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE, IS IT WONDERFUL?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… supposedly. Thanksgiving has come and gone and now it is Christmas time in full force. Everyone is busy getting that tree just perfect and planning their schedules, so they can make each and every Christmas related event. If you haven’t noticed by now… it’s the busiest time of the year and everyone is in a hurry when really, it’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. But is it really?

Black Friday/Cyber Monday has come and gone and all those awesome deals you got are arriving in the mail- unless you ordered on Amazon because duhh 2-day shipping. The Christmas tree is already up because according to Southern Living, it goes up on Black Friday. Now wrap those gifts up and get them under the tree- unless it’s a John Deere tractor, you’d need a bigger tree. But check out these smaller tractors that will do the job for those little farmers in your life; or give your husband a peace of mind with a John Deere safe. Oh and we can’t forget about that silly little Elf; he/she should arrive no later than December 1st. Time to hit Pinterest to see what kind of tricks it will play this year.

Now, we’ve got our shopping done, our tree is up, Elf is up to no good, what else? A covered dish for Family Christmas! This crockpot potato soup is easy and is sure to win everyone over- even Aunt Susie who has no faith in your cooking skills. While you get the soup in the crockpot, keep the kids entertained by printing out these free Christmas activity sheets. These will keep them entertained during the 25 minutes it takes you to get everything in the crockpot, but the 3-4 hours it takes to cook is precious time you get to spend with your kids. Sit down and help them write their letter to Santa or do a hands-on activity with them like building a gingerbread house. Fun activities like that are sure to create wonderful Christmas memories.

Christmas Eve is here, and another Christmas has almost come and gone. Do you have Christmas eve traditions? Maybe this is the year to start some. My favorite Christmas eve tradition was getting to open a new set of pajamas each year. My brother, sister, and I would unwrap them and go put them on right then. Another favorite of mine was tracking Santa on NORAD. Finish off the night with leaving cookies and milk out for Santa and carrots for the reindeer.

The next morning will be spent unwrapping everything that was on that wish list and watching little faces light up with joy. The joy that Christmas brings to a child is one we should all admire. If we slowed down and looked at Christmas through the eyes of a child, it really would be the most wonderful time of the year. Children see the love of family gathering together, the happiness in a gift and the wonder in the story of Jesus’ birth. Take time this year to see Christmas through the eyes of a child.

The SunSouth family wishes you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
