The summer sun is beating down on your garden. Are you doing everything you can to keep your garden alive and growing? Follow these simple steps to help your garden beat the heat this summer.
5 Tips to Help your Lawn and Garden Beat the Heat
  1. Don’t over water: With the temperature rising, we are more prone to over water our plants in the heat of summer. To ensure you aren’t overwatering, water one-inch at a time but more frequently.
  2. Add mulch: By adding mulch on your garden beds, you will keep in the moisture and keep roots cool.
  3. Mow Lawns High: Taller grass produces deeper roots that are more drought-tolerant. A deeply rooted lawn is also more resistant to insects, disease and other environmental stresses.
  4. Weed: Keeps weeds out of your flower beds so that they aren’t taking away water and nutrients from your plants. Weeds can also harbor harmful insects and diseases.
  5. Take care of yourself: Be sure to stay hydrated and use lots of sunscreen. Try to limit your garden work to first thing in the morning or in the evening when it starts to cool down.
